Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring CA RN licensure and critical care skills including chest tubes, art lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters.
Details
- Acute care ICU setting with 11 private beds
- Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
- Common diagnoses include open heart, general surgery, STEMI, stroke, vents, chest tubes, art lines, CRRT, Impellas, and balloon pumps (travelers not assigned to balloon pump patients)
- No neuro patients on this unit
- Charge nurse in place who may also carry a small patient load
- No dedicated nurse aides on the unit
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Philips telemetry monitoring with a monitor tech on day shift; nurses required to read tele strips
- RT available 24/7; pharmacy not available 24/7 (after-hours support via Marian after 10pm, night shift nurses may need to mix meds)
- PICC line team available; no dedicated IV team
- Intensivist on call after 5pm
- 12-hour night shifts, 6p-6a
- Every other weekend requirement
- Holiday coverage per rotation with permanent staff
- Floating required to Telemetry (1:4) or Med-Surg (1:5) unit
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Comfortable administering drips including dopamine, Levophed, epinephrine, and nitroglycerin
- Experience caring for ventilated patients required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU environment
- Navy scrub color required
- Work alongside a charge nurse and collaborate with RT and PICC line teams as needed
- First-time travelers may be considered given required experience level is met
