Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring 3 years of ED experience and willingness to work charge.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
• 48 beds that can flex up to 62 beds using hall beds as needed
• Regular ED patient ratio never exceeds 1:4, with hold assignments at 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds
• Averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day
• Evening shift, 3x12 hours (15:00-03:30)
• Cerner charting system required
• Floating required to other units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must be willing to work in a charge capacity

Requirements

• Active RN license, IN or Compact, required in hand prior to start
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
• At least Level II trauma center experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
• CPAP/BiPAP management and care of ventilated patients required
• Isolation precautions/PPE experience required
• RN degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a high-acuity trauma setting
• Manage psychiatric, pediatric, orthopedic, neurological, and shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• IN residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
• Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; longer requests require facility approval
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
