Description

American Traveler is seeking an Emergency Department RN with 2-3 years of ER experience for a night shift assignment requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities, though rarely needed
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2-3 years of ER experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, starting and maintaining IVs, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, and CVA management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and triage required
• RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a Level I/II Trauma Center setting
• Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response duties
• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias as part of routine emergency care
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Facility cannot accommodate RTO on 12/25
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome if they meet the 2-3 years of ER experience requirement
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12+ months of travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents
