Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PCU Float position requiring an active CA RN license, ACLS, NIHSS, and prior PCU experience across multiple hospital locations.

Details

• Float pool position covering multiple hospital locations
• Care for general medicine, surgical, neuro, onc, cardiac, and ortho patients within PCU/IMU units
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Patient ratios: IMU 1:3, Tele 1:4, MS 1:5
• Floating required across all PCU units and to Med-Surg if census permits
• May also float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow)
• Schedule provided 4 weeks in advance with facility assignment confirmed via phone call 2 hours before shift start
• No blocked or self-scheduling available
• Uses Epic and Pyxis documentation systems

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• IV start, telemetry, phlebotomy, and A-line experience required
• Two manager references required, including at least one supervisory/director/manager reference from the relevant unit within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across multiple PCU/IMU float locations including La Jolla, Hillcrest, and La Mesa campuses
• May be assigned to a new cardiology/neuro-focused unit at the East Campus location if it becomes active during the contract
• Must work 2 of the following 3 holiday periods: Christmas Eve/Day, Thanksgiving Day/following day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous UCSD employees must disclose this at time of consideration and receive UCSD approval prior to assignment
• Candidates must have been separated from UCSD for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• 7 days of RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 21 days of the assignment
