Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level II Trauma acute care hospital requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience, Cerner proficiency, and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a 372-bed acute care hospital
• Average daily census of 35 patients with a 1:6-7 patient ratio
• 4x12 day shift schedule (0600-1830)
• Will work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license (or in application process with an ETA to apply)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience including telemetry (remote monitoring) and Rapid Response Team use
• Gastrointestinal skills including colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management
• Genitourinary/renal experience including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Respiratory care skills including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management
• Prior charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg population with a range of complex clinical needs
• Work in a Level II Trauma acute care hospital setting
• Scrub colors limited to blue, black, or gray
• Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Travel pairs are not accepted
