Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry Stepdown position requiring NIHSS certification and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, and general med/surg IMC/stepdown level of care
- Special procedures include lumbar drains, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
- Typical patient assignment is 1:4, may be higher when additional resources are available
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm
- Every other weekend required
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
- Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Charge experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with neurological conditions such as aneurysms, craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury required
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide care to patients with complex neurological, stroke, and trauma-related conditions on a stepdown unit
- Perform stroke education and post-TPA care as part of daily responsibilities
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no medical or religious exemptions permitted
- Personal or agency-provided PAPRs/CAPRs are not permitted
- Local candidates within 70 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Clinicians may not work as a traveler at this facility for more than 1 year without taking a 6-month break before returning
