Description
American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PICU experience and a TX or compact RN license in hand.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Self-scheduling required with 3 shifts per week, which may be consecutive or split
- Variable weekend requirement
- No on-call responsibilities
- May float to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
- Experience with 1:1-2 patient ratios
- Skilled in ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and care of ventilated patients
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line care
- Experience managing IV vasopressors and continuous sedation
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU setting
- Navy scrub color required for RNs
- Free parking available in unrestricted spaces with bike racks on site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be granted
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same health system
