Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 1+ years of CVICU experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient population includes cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFib w/ RVR, cardiogenic shock), vascular (peripheral bypasses, EVAR), and thoracic (VATS) diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:30-08:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity units as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call required
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only) required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), and BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CABG, IABP, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and post cardiac surgery care
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and continuous IV sedation or paralytics preferred
• Experience with ECMO and Impella preferred
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently the only accepted vendor)

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Holidays required to be worked as scheduled
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no restrictions
• Locals residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise stated
• Return travelers must have at least 6 months away from the health system before returning
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Most contracts allow one extension, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit
• Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
• Compliance documents must be completed 5 days prior to start, with labs completed within 72 hours of contract signing
