Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring Level II trauma experience, heparin drip management, and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg unit (North 6) in a hospital setting with 24-26 beds
• Patient population includes general, abdominal, and flap surgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4-8
• Manages heparin drips/titrations
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required across multiple campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist) and like units when needed

Requirements

• Active IA state RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• General med surg and abdominal surgery care experience required
• Heparin drip experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Current Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Prior travel contract experience required within the last 24 months
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months highly preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to general, abdominal, and flap surgery patients on a Med/Surg unit
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Navy blue scrubs (tops and bottoms, solids) required
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Prior UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market within 12 months of separation
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
