Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma center requiring 24 months of OR experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• 1:1 patient ratios with 16 OR beds and 16 suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with expected turnover times under 20 minutes
• Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastics
• Special equipment includes 3 daVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker systems for ortho trauma
• EMR: EPIC
• Day shift options include Monday-Friday 5x8s (1230p-9p) or 4x10s Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri (1030a-9p), 40 hrs/week
• Call requirement of one overnight per week and three weekends per 13-week contract, with weekend call running from end of shift Friday until 0630 Monday
• Holiday rotation required
• Floating required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room experience, hospital/medical center experience prioritized
• Circulating/operating room experience required
• Scrub experience highly preferred
• Required experience in General, daVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
• Additional experience preferred in Neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Scrubbing experience in Orthopedics highly preferred
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include both scrub and circulating duties within a high-volume Level II trauma OR
• Scrubs are provided
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming Winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving) unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests allowed during the Thanksgiving and Winter holiday periods
• First-time travelers will not be considered; must have completed a travel assignment within the past 15 months
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local candidates are accepted
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) may be restricted from travel assignments in other markets depending on separation history
