Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a DOU/PCU-Telemetry position requiring 2 years of relevant experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Direct Observation Unit (DOU/PCU) setting, primarily med-surg with float coverage to telemetry
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in DOU and 1:5 in ARU
• Every other weekend required, or more depending on department needs (6 weekend days per schedule period)
• Sunday nights are not counted as a weekend shift
• Mandatory floating to ARU and DOU within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of recent relevant experience required (hardstop requirement)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry care
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with cardiac drips, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, and heparin protocols
• Experience with central, peripheral, and PICC line care and management
• Experience with blood product administration and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Experience with post cardiac catheterization, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
• Experience managing patients with CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and pre/post neurosurgery
• Experience with feeding tube management, CBI, and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Experience with non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration
• Experience working with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to a mixed med-surg and telemetry patient population, including cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical patients
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Manage patients with pacemakers, TAVR procedures, and post cardiac angiogram care
• Support patients requiring insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
• Care for patients with surgical drains, ports, and central lines
• RTO must be submitted upfront with no exceptions
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• First-time travelers may be considered if all clinical criteria are met
