Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience treating adult and pediatric critical and general care patients.

Details

• Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department at a short-term acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Treats critical care and general care patients across adult and/or pediatric populations
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7pm-7am, weekdays with some weekends required
• Floating within scope required as needed, including to sister facilities
• No on-call requirement
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Open to accommodating block schedules, though not guaranteed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• RRT or CRT certification required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• NALS certification required for pediatric cases
• License required if applicable
• Pending state license accepted
• Cerner charting experience required
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Performs airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and oral/nasal suctioning
• Provides tracheostomy care and management
• Administers nebulizer treatments via hand-held, T-piece, and trach collar methods
• Manages oxygen therapy including bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula, and trach collar
• Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• First-time travelers accepted
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented
• COVID vaccine not required
• Fit testing required in advance using an approved mask, with candidates potentially traveling up to 100 miles to complete testing
• Local candidates accepted within a 100-mile radius of the facility, with 75-100 miles considered case-by-case at the same rate
• RTO requests must be submitted two weeks prior to the next schedule and approved by management
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Non-billable orientation modules required prior to start date, averaging 2-6 hours to complete
