Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac PCU RN for a 12-hour day shift contract requiring NC or compact RN license and cardiology experience.

Details

• Cardiac Progressive Care Unit within a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
• 28-bed unit with an average census of 26
• Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, chest pain rule-out, post cardiac cath, post EP procedures (pacemaker, ICD, ablation), arrhythmia management, and vascular conditions like PAD, AAA repair, and DVT/PE
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5, CNA ratio of 1:11-14
• 12-hour day shift schedule from 0700-1900, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West
• Support staff includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring tech in place; RN responsible for verifying strips once per shift
• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of cardiology experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in the unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care skills required
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
• Epic EMR experience required
• One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and vascular PCU patients including rhythm monitoring, medication titration, and post-procedural care
• Work within a supportive team structure including CNAs, charge nurse, respiratory therapy, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
• Unit culture emphasizes a family atmosphere with teamwork as the top expectation
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue

• 75% of holidays required to be worked
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
