Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

• Combined adult/pediatric general emergency department in a hospital setting
• Non-trauma, Level I, and Level II trauma emergency department experience utilized
• STEMI and Stroke certified facility
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic EMR experience required
• 15-week contract length

Requirements

• Active California RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI
• Preferred certifications: NIHSS, OCN, TNCC
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Teaching hospital, Trauma Level I, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV starts/maintenance
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Experience managing CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Experience with ortho-trauma, head injury, near drowning, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputation cases
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
• References required for consideration
• Copies of required certifications must be included for consideration

Additional Information

• Advanced EKG competency exam required prior to start, consisting of 20 questions with a 45-minute time limit and a passing score of 80% or higher
• Two attempts permitted for the exam prior to start; only one onsite attempt allowed, with assignment cancellation if failed
• Required clinical and non-clinical training modules must be completed prior to start
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous staff considered for return on a case-by-case basis
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• RTO limited to a maximum of 3 days for the duration of the contract
• Must be willing to work holidays
• All time off requests must be submitted and finalized prior to assignment start
