Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with orthopedic experience for a day shift position requiring at least one completed travel assignment and an MD or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg unit with an orthopedic patient population
• Patient diagnoses include joint replacements, spinal surgery, orthopedic trauma, hand trauma, and fractures
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 0700-1930
• Weekend coverage required every 3rd weekend
• Float requirement between Ortho and Med/Surg units

Requirements

• Active MD RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required, with ortho experience
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement, and surgical drains required
• 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
• Driver's license copy required at time of consideration for local status determination

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for orthopedic and general Med/Surg patients including post-surgical monitoring
• Skills utilized include IV therapy, port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and wound care
• Additional relevant experience includes chest tube management, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy care, and CVA/pre-post neurosurgery care
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Candidates with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a different pay rate
• First-time travelers are not eligible for consideration; prior travel assignment experience is required
