Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring L&D, postpartum, and pediatric experience along with Epic proficiency.

Details

• Level 2 Maternity unit within a 19-bed L&D, postpartum/mother-baby, and pediatric unit at a community hospital
• Approximately 600 deliveries per year with staffing ratios guided by AWHONN standards
• Delivers babies from 35 weeks gestation and up, with an OR on the unit for cesarean sections
• Patient population includes maternal-child, newborn, and occasional age-appropriate medsurg patients (females under 65)
• Uses Philips fetal monitoring, IV pumps, ICU Plum 360 pumps, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and glucometers
• Unit-specific protocols include IV insertion, RN bedside ultrasound for fetal presentation, epidural catheter removal post-delivery, and phlebotomy
• Uses Epic EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night), primarily nights with possible day rotations, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, with every 3rd weekend mandatory; scheduling done in 6-week blocks with no self-scheduling
• Call requirements vary based on census and unit needs
• Circulating duties required; scrub skills are a bonus but not required

Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (AHA) required
• C-EFM certification highly preferred
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and pediatrics required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be separated from Beth Israel Lahey Health facilities for 6+ months to be considered

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for maternal, newborn, and postpartum patients within a Level 2 Maternity/Level 1 Nursery unit
• Two days of unit orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs provided by the unit
• No gel or fake nails permitted
• Required vaccinations include COVID (plus booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed
• No local candidates accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers not considered for this position
