Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• High-volume unit averaging 2,000 deliveries annually with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Cares for both low-risk (including certified nurse midwife) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine patient populations
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower cases
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Nursys verification required
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care settings
• Skilled in fetal monitoring and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
• Experience circulating for and recovering C-sections preferred
• Familiarity with baby-friendly protocols and neonatal resuscitation preferred
• Must float within scope of practice as needed
• Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, all of which must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
