Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float RN with CA license, Trauma Level II experience, and telemetry skills for a night shift float pool position.

Details

• Float Pool position covering multiple MS/Tele and MS units within scope of practice
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1930-0730
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Epic charting system required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care/management
• Experienced in IV therapy including central line, peripheral line, and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Neurological/psychiatric experience including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry remote monitoring, and rapid response/code team use
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• IV insulin protocol experience, including insulin drip titration (preferred)
• Orthopedic experience including ortho trauma and total joint replacement
• Renal experience including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with surgical drains and feeding tube care/management
• Heparin protocol and PCA medication management experience
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Float to multiple Med/Surg and Med/Surg Telemetry units within scope of practice
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Only 1 holiday RTO request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
