Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• 13-week contract length
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Utilizes Epic charting system
• Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Handles airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Administers various inhaled medications and manages medication delivery systems

Requirements

• RRT certification and BLS required
• Minimum 4 years of experience preferred; candidates with 2+ years will be considered
• ACCS and ACLS certifications preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• VA state license required; license required if applicable
• Candidates may submit with a pending VA license if they hold another active state license and can obtain a temporary VA license before start
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provides respiratory care for patients with ARDS, pneumonia, aspiration, and fresh tracheostomies
• Performs chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Assists with bronchoscopy procedures
• Completes specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Travel experience is not required, so first-time travelers will be considered
