Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• 13-week travel assignment on the RRT unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, with 2 of the 3 winter holidays covered
• Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings
• Utilizes Epic charting system
• Travelers must float within their scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active RRT certification required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (4 years preferred)
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• VA state license required; license required if applicable, pending license accepted if candidate holds another active state license and can obtain VA temporary license before start date
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Manage ventilator settings including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and IMV, and troubleshoot high pressure alarms
• Perform airway management including intubation/extubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery systems
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Provide care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Perform chest physiotherapy including vest therapy
• Complete up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, with all RTO disclosed prior to submission
• No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
• Unable to approve RTO around Christmas
• Disclose any planned vacation time between sign date and start date
• Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• BSN preferred
