Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a night shift PICU/RRT position requiring 4+ years of experience across multiple critical care and specialty units.

Details

• 13-week assignment in an acute care Magnet hospital with 152 staffed beds
• Provides respiratory therapy coverage across CCU, Flex Unit, SDU, PEDS, PICU, PCU, and FBS units, not limited to PICU or Pediatrics
• Patient population includes Level 2 ER, PICU, and NICU trauma cases along with high acuity floor therapy patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00 with possible day shift coverage as needed
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope to CCU, Flex Unit, SDU, PEDS, PICU, PCU, and FBS
• No on-call requirement
• Uses specialized equipment including Servo U ventilator, V60, and HFNC
• Cerner EMR used for documentation, Epic experience preferred

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• PICU, NICU, and Adult ICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP, PALS, and RRT
• License required if applicable
• Compact license accepted at time of submission, but Alaska state license required prior to start for acute specialties
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including Bubble CPAP and high-risk delivery assistance
• Copy of NRP certification required with submission for consideration
• No prior travel experience required

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to a high acuity patient population spanning adult critical care, pediatrics, and neonatal units
• Administer a range of medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and nitric oxide
• Manage patients with conditions such as ARDS, cystic fibrosis, RDS, RSV, and fresh tracheostomies
• Perform chest physiotherapy and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Participate in patient transport, including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
• Any scrub color or pattern permitted, with scrubs provided for L&D and OR staff
• COVID vaccination required for facility eligibility
• Onsite orientation modules completed during orientation and annually
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
• Local candidates not accepted; minimum radius rule of 100 miles applies
• Previous staff must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler
