Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring TN or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Details

PCU/Stepdown unit with cardiac telemetry, neuro, and step-down patient population
1:4 ratio on PCU; 1:7 ratio when floated to Medical-Surgical
36/36, 36/48, and 48/48 scheduling options available
Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 18:30-07:00
Every other weekend required with rotating holidays
No on-call requirement
Floating to other units required
Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

Active TN or compact RN license required
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certification only accepted)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Skills in IV therapy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
Experience with pre/post cardiac cath care, sheath removal, and TR band management
Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
EKG competency testing required within 72 hours of signing
Drug screening required 12-14 calendar days prior to start
Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care to cardiac telemetry, neuro, and step-down patients including CVA and traumatic brain injury cases
Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties
General orientation begins on Sundays with online coursework
Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
