Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Cardiac RN for a night shift assignment requiring SD/PCU experience and OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Stepdown Cardiac unit within a hospital setting caring for heart failure, chest pain rule out, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and drug/ETOH withdrawal patients
  • Targeted patient ratios of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • 13- or 18-week contract available
  • Daily average unit census of 31
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Must be competent running IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Floating required at facility discretion, which may include the ED or other Premier Health campuses within 15 miles of Main Campus

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience required, with SD or PCU-specific experience required (ICU experience does not qualify)
  • Level 1 or 2 trauma center experience preferred
  • Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
  • Must be able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
  • IV start proficiency required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Must complete lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of signing contract
  • No history of license disciplinary action accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
  • Manage IV insulin protocols and titrate cardiac drips
  • Care for patients pre/post cardiac catheterization, angiogram, and cardiac surgery
  • Will be fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at initial submittal with no changes after an offer is made
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
  • Previous PERM/PRN Premier Health employees or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travel experience preferred but not required, so first-time travelers may be considered
