Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro PCU RN with a TX or compact license and at least 2 years of PCU experience for a night shift assignment.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting specializing in Neuro PCU patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4, occasionally 1:5, at night
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
• Required to float divisionally, cover overflow, and take ED holds
• Must work 2-3 holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and HFNC
• Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and TBI
• Experience with cardiac drip management and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and wound care/wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to neuro and cardiac telemetry patients in a stepdown/PCU environment
• Monitor for dysrhythmias and respond using rapid response/code teams as needed
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
• RTO must be submitted at time of application or prior to accepting an offer
