Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least one year of experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• 25-bed acute care Med/Surg unit
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:4 days and 1:5 nights
• Patient population includes heavy orthopedic post-op (hips, knees, spine, shoulder), GYN, general post-op, pneumonia, CHF, COPD, and geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities
• Occasional pediatric patients under 18 for post-op pain control monitoring
• Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• Every third weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Every third holiday required per facility rotation
• No call or standby requirements
• No floating requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Uses Mindray tele monitors; RNs must be able to read own telemetry strips
• Charge RN rarely takes patient assignments and assists with discharges and monitoring
• House Supervisor available nights and weekends
• 2 nurse aides per shift
• No dedicated respiratory therapist; RT support available via 24-hour iPad access
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, with insulin, cardizem, levophed, and Dopamine per manager approval

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Must be proficient in IV starts and orthopedic care
• Acute care Med/Surg experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit with a focus on orthopedic post-op recovery
• Manage titratable drips and monitor telemetry independently
• Navy blue scrub jacket required; any color or print undershirt permitted
• Unit-specific orientation includes three 12-hour shifts, with one day shift for system and pharmacy access training
• Manager creates the schedule; RTO requests must be submitted in advance
• Block scheduling may be available depending on unit needs
