Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring critical care skills and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Work in a High Acuity/ICU unit within an acute care hospital setting
• 8-bed critical care unit with 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac cases
• Care for sedated, ventilated patients including tracheostomy and PEG tube management
• Manage CVC, PICC, and midline lines with associated care
• Titrate common ICU drips such as Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem
• Utilizes EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts from 7pm to 7:30am
• Every other weekend required, plus additional shifts to fill gaps
• Holiday rotation required, plus additional shifts to fill gaps
• No current call or standby requirement, though subject to change
• May float to Medical-Surgical unit
• RT staff available in-house 24/7 to support ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
• House Supervisor available 24/7
• Telemetry centrally monitored by dedicated telemetry tech
• Hospitalist/Intensivist on-site during dayshift, with tele-health MD support after hours

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Skilled in vasopressor, sedation, and pain control drip titration
• Experience with ventilated and tracheostomy patients required
• Experience with CVC, PICC, midline, and PEG tube care required
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide primary bedside care as no nurse aides or patient care techs are present on this unit
• Complete classroom orientation per facility policy plus 2 shifts with a preceptor
• Scrubs required in any color, with only facility-approved t-shirts permitted
• Local candidates accepted, with a reduced rate applying to those within 50 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
