Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pre/Post-Op position requiring at least 12 months of pre/post-op or same day surgery experience and prior travel experience in this specialty.

Details

• Work in the Ambulatory Surgery/Surgery unit within a hospital setting
• 28-bed unit with a 1:3 patient ratio
• Adult and pediatric population, both inpatient and outpatient
• Common surgery types include myringotomy, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, orthopedic procedures (total knee, hip, shoulder arthroplasty), hysterectomy, thoracotomy, gastric bypass, ureteroscopy, AAA repair, breast reconstruction, and general surgery (chole, appendectomy)
• Primarily post-op/Phase II recovery duties with some pre-op responsibilities as needed
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts with flexible start times between 0900-1100, 40 hrs/week
• No call requirements
• No weekend requirements

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum of 12 months pre/post-op or same day surgery experience required
• At least 1 prior travel contract in pre/post-op, SDS, or PACU within the previous 15 months required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Current or recent pediatric care experience required
• Hospital, medical center, same day surgery, or outpatient surgery facility experience accepted
• 24 months of current surgery, pre/post-op, same day surgery, or PACU/post anesthesia care experience required on resume
• Skills checklist specific to surgery, pre/post-op, or same day surgery discipline required
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
• Driver's license required for documentation purposes

Additional Information

• Provide post-operative and Phase II recovery nursing care with some pre-operative support as needed
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Holiday rotation required, working 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• No first-time travelers considered for this role
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments in other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
