Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring prior travel assignment experience and 1:1 patient ratios.

Details

• 54-bed Level III NICU serving as a regional referral center for high-risk infants
• Predominantly very low birth weight premature infants requiring ventilatory support
• 1:1 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• 2 weekend shifts per month scheduled on an as-needed basis
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within the hospital to Mother Baby unit to care for babies only
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent permanent staff experience in a Level III NICU
• Prior travel nursing assignment experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience with UAC/UVC lines and neonatal medication administration including vasopressors and antibiotics
• Ventilator management skills across multiple modes (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and nitric oxide therapy preferred
• Experience caring for neonates across gestational ages, including under 28 weeks and over 34 weeks
• Skills in phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and management of neonatal sepsis

• Work in a new, state-of-the-art unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Provide high-acuity care to critically ill neonates including respiratory, cardiac, and infectious disease management
• Support patient/family education and developmental care practices
• Must be flexible to occasionally pick up additional shifts based on unit needs
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week, with no time off permitted during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
