Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN with Level III/IV NICU experience for a day-shift assignment requiring BLS, NRP, and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

Level III/IV NICU setting
1:3 patient ratio
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
36 or 48 hours per week
Epic EMR experience required
3 weekends required within each 6-week scheduling period
Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

Active VA or compact RN license
BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand
Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at time of consideration)
Minimum 2 years of NICU experience
BSN preferred
Epic charting system experience required
Experience with high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide (iNO), and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
Experience with UAC/UVC, central/implanted line care, and IV therapy
Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and IV vasopressors
Two professional references required

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic management
Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and manage chest tubes and tracheostomy care
Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, with none approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or around the Christmas holiday
Previous UVA permanent staff or traveler employment requires a minimum 1-year separation and leadership approval
Travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
First-time travelers are not considered for this position
