Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU Registered Nurse requiring NRP certification and 2+ years of neonatal ICU experience.

Details

• Level III/IV NICU setting in a teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
• 13-26 week assignment length
• Requires working 3 weekends within a 6-week scheduling period
• Requires working 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating within scope of practice may be required

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted with Nursys verification)
• BLS and NRP certifications required, NRP must be in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification required (may be pending)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in neonatal-specific procedures including UAC/UVC line care, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, central line care, and ventilator management
• Two professional references required
• Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for critically ill neonates including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage complex respiratory equipment including chest tubes and tracheostomy care
• No time off approved around Christmas holiday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• No time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• No radius rule for this unit
