Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring NRP certification and a VA or compact license.

Details

• Level III/IV NICU setting in a teaching hospital
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Uses Epic charting system
• 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
• 2 of 3 winter holidays required
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can begin process with pending certification)
• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Nursys license verification required
• Two professional references required
• Experience with neonatal ventilator management, therapeutic hypothermia, UAC/UVC, and IV therapy required

Additional Information

• Provide high-acuity neonatal intensive care including respiratory management, IV therapy, and central line care
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and chest tubes
• Perform neonatal dosage calculations and administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off not approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or around Christmas
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
