Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior Level III NICU experience.

Details

• Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit setting
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Uses Epic charting system
• Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending license accepted
• 2+ years of NICU nursing experience required
• Level III NICU experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending)
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Experience with neurologic care, lumbar puncture assistance, and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
• Experience with IV therapy, central line/implanted line care, UAC, and UVC
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and post-abdominal surgery care
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
• High frequency ventilation and ventilator management experience (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Chest tube management and nitric oxide (iNO) administration experience
• Tracheostomy care and management skills
• IV vasopressor administration and neonatal dosage calculation skills
• Phlebotomy skills
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonatal patients in a Level III/IV NICU
• Time off requests limited to a maximum of 40 hours per 13-week contract
• Time off not approved during the first two weeks of assignment
• Time off not approved around the Christmas holiday
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching that limit
• No radius rule applies to this position
