Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for night shifts requiring at least 1 year of experience and prior travel experience, with a Michigan RN license

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting, including a 10-bed Observation/ER overflow unit
• Observation unit ratios are 1:6 at night and 1:5 during days, focused on rapid patient turnover and discharge readiness
• Other Med/Surg units see a variety of medical patients with staffing ratios of 1:5-6 at night, occasionally flexing to 1:8 with LPN support
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units, approximately once per week
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Travel experience required; not recommended for first-time travelers unless recent Observation, Admission, or Short Stay Unit experience
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management required
• Central line blood draw and colostomy/ileostomy care preferred
• Experience with cardiac drip management (no titration) and PCA required
• Nasal cannula and oxygen administration skills required
• Tracheostomy care and wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Telemetry monitoring experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Comfortable working alongside RNs, LPNs, and Techs

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med/Surg and Observation unit environment with rapid patient admission and discharge
• Support and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
• Holiday coverage required with no RTO approved for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day at this time
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
• Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing
