Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position requiring active IL license and prior telemetry/cardiac stepdown experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in the IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit
• 4x12 day shifts scheduled from 0645-1915
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required and in hand at time of application
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent IMC/Stepdown/PCU/Telemetry experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and Rapid Response Team use
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy including central line, PICC, port access, and arterial line management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required)
• Experience with respiratory care including ventilated patients, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with neurological, orthopedic, GI, GU/renal, and plastic surgery patient populations as outlined in required skills
• Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted

Additional Information

• Work in a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care teaching hospital
• Provide comprehensive stepdown-level nursing care to complex cardiac, neuro, and post-surgical patients
• Scrub color: any solid color permitted
• Free parking permit provided during orientation
• RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
