Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring VA or compact RN licensure and 3 years of PICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Rotating 4x12 hour night (19:00-7:00) and day (7:00-19:00) shifts, alternating schedules every few weeks without rotating within the same week
• EPIC charting experience required, no exceptions
• Must work a minimum of 2 holidays
• Floating within scope required if needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Minimum 3 years of PICU experience required (orientation time not included)
• BSN preferred, though diploma and Associate degree graduates from accredited programs (ACEN or CCNE) are accepted
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skills required: respiratory care, care of ventilated patients, medication administration including emergency medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Additional preferred skills: CVVH, chemotherapy administration, ECMO, ICP monitoring, telemetry, and ventilator management
• 2 professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and specialized interventions
• Complete required orientation modules during the first week on the unit
• VCU maintains a natural nail policy
• Facility is a drug, tobacco, and smoke-free workplace
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius rules
• Both travelers and permanent staff must be separated from VCU Health for one year before returning as a traveler
• Time-off requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are approved by the unit manager; no time off is granted during the first week of assignment
