Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and current PALS certification.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• No block scheduling permitted
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float facility - all clinicians required to float within scope at facility discretion
• May float to units outside primary specialty with team-based support model in place
• May be required to float to other Cook facilities within 50 miles, with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Required experience with Cerner charting system
• Skilled in medication administration including anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, and acute airway care/maintenance
• Skilled in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and management of chest tubes
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including central line/implanted line care and PICC line management
• Experience with ICP monitoring
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Two professional references required from supervisors within the past 2 years, from most recent employers
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a pediatric intensive care setting for critically ill children
• Any scrub color permitted
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO permitted, including no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Contract cancellation possible for holiday call-outs
• Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation, even after breaks in contract of less than 30 days
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
