Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU Level 3 position requiring a CA license and 3 years of NICU Level 3+ experience.

Details

• Assigned to a NICU Level 3, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with 20 staffed beds
• Variable Day/Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
• 13-week assignment with an October 26 start date only
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Required to float to sister facilities including Rady Main Campus, Scripps Encinitas, Rancho Springs, Palomar, and Scripps Mercy with prior notice given
• Mid-shift floating may occasionally be required
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend flexibility required, with potential scheduling up to 3 out of 4 weekends in a 4-week period
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, or ETA for licensure at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Strong NICU background required for first-time travelers
• Experience with high-risk deliveries, ventilator management, and neonatal medication administration preferred
• Skills in UAC/UVC care, arterial line management, and therapeutic hypothermia preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to neonatal patients ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation, including high-risk and critical cases
• Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex neonatal conditions such as NEC, sepsis, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, with Christmas mandatory
• Maximum RTO of 6 days
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
• Clinicians designated as Do Not Return (DNR) for Children's Hospital of Orange County will not be considered due to facility merger
• Travelers who complete a full year at this facility or its sister facility must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers accepted with strong NICU experience
