Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring prior ICU experience and drip titration skills.

Details

• Work in a 4-bed ICU within a small 40-bed community hospital (Trauma Level 4)
• Patient ratio of 1:2 in the ICU
• Common diagnoses include DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress, and COVID
• Required to titrate drips such as propofol, levophed, dobutamine, precedex, fentanyl, insulin, esmolol, versed, and ketamine
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 7pm-7:30am, 36 hours per week
• Scheduled in 2-week blocks with nights typically grouped 3-4 shifts in a row
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating may be required to IMCU or MS units, or to the ED if prior ED experience is held
• Charge nurse oversees MS, IMCU, and ICU units, which are all located on the same floor
• Nurse aides shared with MS unit
• Hospitalist coverage in-house 24/7; Intensivist in-house M-F 8-5, telemedicine coverage via OHSU after hours and weekends
• Respiratory Therapy available in-house 24/7
• Monitor techs available using Mindray telemetry equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS; TNCC and PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Prior ICU experience required
• Comfortable titrating multiple drip medications
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a small community hospital ICU with limited resources, requiring adaptability and willingness to help other units as needed
• Unit orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
• Any color scrubs permitted, but must be clean and professional
• No visible face tattoos during shift and natural hair colors required
• May be asked to join holiday rotation if a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled shift
