Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2+ years of clinical nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• MS/Tele patient population requiring cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Day shift schedule (3x12 Hours, 7:00-19:30)
• Weekday and some weekend shifts required
• Floating to lower acuity units may be required
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• 2+ years of clinical nursing experience with strong acute care background
• BLS certification required
• IV certification required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric patients and substance withdrawal management
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Start and manage IVs and administer medications safely
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses to treatment
• Educate patients on treatments and self-care
• Collaborate with the care team on patient plans
• Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety standards
• Follow strict isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• PCU experience not required
• Travel experience is a plus but not required
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this location
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed promptly after signing contract due to compliance requirements
