Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and a minimum of 2 years of L&D nursing experience.
Details
- Community hospital setting within the Labor and Delivery unit
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
- Charting system experience required (currently Paragon, transitioning to Epic by 2028)
- Must be willing to float within the hospital as needed
Requirements
- Active LA state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and FHM certifications preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and maintaining central lines
- Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulation/scrubbing, and vaginal delivery assistance
- Proficient in fetal monitoring including EFM and interpretation of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- One professional reference required
- Must disclose any license disciplinary actions at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Manages high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and postpartum hemorrhage
- Administers medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Provides newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation support
- Orientation includes a virtual day followed by two on-site days with additional EMR training
- Local candidates are not accepted; permanent residence must be greater than 50 miles from the facility
- Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Holiday time-off requests should be kept to a minimum
- Teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience are preferred but not required
