Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for an acute care night shift position requiring RRT or CRT certification and neonatal Bubble CPAP/vent experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within the Respiratory Therapy department
• Treats mostly adult patients, with some pediatric and neonatal cases
• Covers inpatient, outpatient, and ER areas
• Handles 10-30 treatments per day
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Equipment includes Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators, Hamilton C1 CPAP/BIPAP, AirVo and Vapotherm high flow systems, and Fisher and Paykel Bubble CPAP
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 6:30pm-7am
• Weekend coverage required on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights
• Holiday coverage required
• On-call coverage required approximately 4 days per month with a 1-hour response time
• Sole RT on-site during night shift with a second therapist available on call
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling
• No floating outside of RT department, except in extreme need within a designated facility zone

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• RRT or CRT certification via NBRC required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required
• Neonatal experience with Bubble CPAP and ventilator management required
• Performs ABGs and EKGs as part of job duties
• Not required to intubate independently, only to assist
• Active state or compact (NLC) license required if applicable; pending licenses not accepted
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Work under the support of a Respiratory Manager and Lead Therapist
• Department-specific orientation provided with preceptor support
• Hospitalist is available in-house
• Solid colored scrubs permitted in any color
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, though some first-day modules may be completed remotely
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
