Description
American Traveler is hiring a night-shift Telemetry RN with at least 2 years of experience and active CA licensure for a fast-paced acute care unit.
Details
- Acute care Telemetry unit (Tele 3SW) with 32 all-private beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 for telemetry patients and 1:5 for MedSurg patients; mixed teams maintain 1:4 ratio
- Patient population includes acute/chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry, stroke, non-titratable drips, COVID, forensic, and potential post-op patients
- No titration required; set rate drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin
- GE cardiac monitors used; RNs must independently read and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Uses Cerner EMR, experience preferred
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-730a) with shift huddle at 1900
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for nights)
- Minimum holiday coverage of 1 major and 1 minor holiday
- No call requirement, but may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute call-in response time
- Travelers are first to float, with potential floating to Mercy Downtown (~6.5 miles away), any MS/MST unit, ICU for MST patients, or ER for MST holds
- Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP/BiPAP per order; no ventilator management required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms without dedicated tele techs
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced unit with high acuity and frequent admissions
- Uphold evidence-based practices including bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding, and medication teaching with side effect education
- Unit supported by a 24/7 house supervisor, Nurse Manager during business hours, and Charge/Break Nurses each shift
- CNAs available based on census
- 1-2 shift unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
- Navy blue scrub color required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and jackets must be navy; hoodies and sweatshirts not permitted
- Strict attendance policy in place; punctuality is required
- Warm and welcoming staff environment
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
