Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU night shift position requiring 2+ years of neuro ICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts considered are Friday and Saturday nights
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EMR
• Utilizes ventilators, intracranial pressure monitoring, and telemetry equipment

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with strong Neuro ICU background
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: IV starts, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD and ICP monitoring, lumbar drain care, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury and TBI care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and IV insulin protocols
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgical cases
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be screened prior to consideration
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with initial contract and limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon contract signing
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to work as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
