Description

American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 13-week assignment at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center requiring at least 1 year of PICU experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Pediatric ICU setting within a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Self-scheduling required, allowing consecutive or split 3-shift weeks
• Weekend rotation required (variable)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units, as well as possibly sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and chest tube management
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line care, and medication administration including vasopressors and continuous sedation
• Familiarity with neurologic monitoring such as EVD, ICP monitoring, and VP shunt care
• Cardiovascular skills including hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces, with bike racks on site
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during consideration, with limited flexibility afterward
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Only one submission allowed system-wide to Providence facilities at a time
