Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac PCU experience and comfort with 1:5 patient ratios.

Details

• Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit with 30 private beds, providing care 24/7
• Rooms remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
• Patient population focuses on CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement, with secondary respiratory cases such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management
• Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise mostly 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00a-7:30p
• Weekend rotation required with holidays as needed
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7, RN secretary support 7a-11p
• Scheduling managed through a self-assisted 6-week schedule via Optilink based on departmental need
• EPIC EMR experience required
• May float to any Cone Health campus as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac PCU experience required
• Comfortable working 1:5 patient ratios
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, with titration skills preferred
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Skilled in pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Experience with peripheral line and PICC line care and management
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Experience with external CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy management
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
• Current driver's license required for address verification

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive cardiac and respiratory nursing care within a progressive care setting
• Utilize remote cardiac monitoring support from the CCMD team
• Complete unit-based orientation modules during onboarding
• Holiday coverage required as needed
