Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU Float RN with 2+ years of critical care experience in a Level 1/2 trauma facility and Epic charting proficiency to support multiple critical care units.

Details

• Acute care setting within an ICU Resource Team covering multiple critical care units
• 32-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Manages 1-3 critically ill patients across varying populations including neuro, cardiac, CT surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical cases
• Assists with bedside procedures including RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, and line placement
• Utilizes Epic EMR along with Omnicell, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, IABP, EVD, Phillips patient monitoring, AvaSure, and Impella equipment
• Day/night rotating schedule with 8, 12, and occasional 4-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required, with no holiday RTO approved
• No call requirements
• Floats to all critical care departments including 5AB, Intermediate ICU (up to 4:1 ratio), and Broadway ICU (up to 3:1 ratio)
• May float to med surg units as needed
• Must call in daily prior to shift to confirm unit assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license (ND or compact) required
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
• Experience in a Level 1 or 2 trauma facility with 250+ beds required
• Experience titrating vasopressor, sedative, analgesic, inotropic, and antiarrhythmic drips required and must be reflected on resume or skills checklist
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to independently care for critically ill patients

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing across multiple ICU and intermediate care units in a rotating float capacity
• Will not work alone during shifts
• Receives 32 hours of orientation during the first week, including hospital, unit, and cross-training to Intermediate ICU and Broadway ICU
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Candidates within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment
• Candidates living 60 to 80 miles from the facility qualify for a reduced local travel rate
• Prior employment history with the health system must be disclosed for eligibility review
