Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Details

• Level III trauma center and Primary Stroke Center emergency department with 14 beds
• Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, including pediatric cases (~1% of volume)
• Common presentations include chest pain, abdominal pain, stroke, neuro, and cardiac (STEMI) cases, plus air transport AMI patients
• Average of 2 psychiatric patients per week
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights, with tech ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shifts (1800-0600), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• No floating required
• Unit supported by techs, charge nurse (with patient load), phlebotomy assistance, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist, and midlevel providers from 10a-10p
• Epic EMR preferred; Alaris and Pyxis equipment used

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS
• Skills required include triage, RSI/intubation assistance, procedural sedation, restraint use, mass transfusion protocols, stroke/neuro alert experience, and trauma activation care
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct emergency nursing care across a broad range of acuities and age groups
• 1 day of hospital orientation and 1 day of unit orientation provided
• Any scrub color permitted
