Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience, prior travel assignment history, and an active LA or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg unit with a heavy surgical patient presence
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• Requires willingness to float within the hospital as needed
• Schedule determined at the unit manager's discretion

Requirements

• Active LA state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with any charting system required
• Skills in GI care including bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction, and ostomy management
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medication administration
• Wound care/wound vac experience
• Experience with renal failure and surgical drain management
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg population with a significant volume of surgical cases
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Orientation spans three days, including virtual training, on-site training, and additional EMR education
• Holiday RTO requests should be kept to a minimum
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required
