Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and telemetry strip interpretation skills.
Details
- Acute Med/Surg/Telemetry unit with 49 beds and a 1:5 patient ratio
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID, respiratory conditions, GI issues, diabetes, post-cath, and total joint replacement
- Cerner EMR used for charting
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7pm-7am
- Weekend requirement of 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Floating required, possibly to East Campus and PCU if qualified
- RNs required to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift
- Tele/monitor techs and nurse aides (1:10-15 ratio) support the unit
- Charge nurse and house supervisor support available
- No call or standby requirements
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments
- No requirement to titrate drips, though set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are administered
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips required
- Total joint replacement experience required
- Some experience with CVA and TIA preferred
- Cerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientation
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy telemetry/medical-surgical unit
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, typically working 2 days and an eve or 2 eves and a day
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
