Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Level 3 trauma facility, requiring 5+ years of critical care experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
- Critical Care Services unit (2nd floor) at a Level 3 trauma facility
- Critical Care/Intensive Care specialty with adult and geriatric patient population
- Home unit is CCU with floating to CVICU overflow, Critical Care Step-Down, or Med-Surg as needed
- Patient ratios vary by unit: CCU 1:2-1:3, CVICU 1:2-1:3, CCSD 1:4-1:5, Med-Surg 1:6
- Uses SpaceLabs bedside monitoring, Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Hill-Rom critical care beds, ventilators, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, and Zoll monitoring
- Meditech EHR system used for clinical documentation
- Night shift schedule from 7PM to 7AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL or compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 5 years of critical care/ICU experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placements, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation
- Experience managing critical care drips and titrations, ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines including large-volume vas caths
- Experience assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
- Prior teaching hospital experience preferred
- High-acuity ICU experience with CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls preferred
- Prior SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg experience preferred
- Smartphone required for physician communication via TigerConnect app
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Care for patients with conditions including respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, post-operative GI disorders, CABGs, and vascular procedures
- Must complete online learning modules including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat and glucometer certifications
- Must effectively communicate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
- Dress code requires royal blue scrub pants with neutral colored or facility-logo tops
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
- Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time
